Tata Motors rebounds after hitting fresh 9-year low on weak Q1 show; CLSA cuts target

CLSA factored in volume growth for the rest of FY20 as the base is turning benign. Shares of Tata Motors rebounded nearly 3 percent intraday on July 26 after hitting a fresh nine-year low in early trade after a disappointing show in June quarter (Q1). Global brokerage houses are mixed in their opinion with CLSA cutting price target on the stock. The scrip touched an intraday low of Rs 138.15, the lowest level since February 2010, but rebounded to day's high of Rs 148.25 which could be due to the positive commentary by the management. At 1031 hours, Tata Motors was quoting at Rs 147.90, up 2.46 percent on the BSE. CLSA has a sell call on the stock and slashed price target to Rs 120 from Rs 140 per share after cutting FY20-21 EPS estimates by 9-31 percent as the company reported worst pre-exceptional loss-before tax in a decade. Kotak Mahindra Bank stock slips over 3% ahead of Q1 results

The country's third-largest private sector lender by market capitalization is expected to report healthy year-on-year growth in profit and net interest income. Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank fell more than 3 percent intraday on July 22 despite brokerages indicating the lender is expected to report healthy numbers for the June quarter. The sharp fall could be attributed to correction in other major lenders like HDFC Bank and RBL Bank. The failure or default on repayment of interest on debts by select major corporates raised concerns over expected asset quality in coming quarters. The stock was quoting at Rs 1,460.25, down Rs 39.55, or 2.64 percent on the BSE at 13:02 hours IST. CRISIL has reaffirmed the highest rating, A1+ to Piramal Capital and Housing Finance (PCHFL) for a commercial paper program worth Rs 10,500 crore Piramal Enterprises shares rallied 6.4 percent intraday on July 15 after CRISIL reaffirmed its highest rating to the commercial paper of company's subsidiary. The rating agency has evaluated the business and financial risk profile of the overall financial services business, and also factored the managerial and financial risk profile of the holding company, Piramal Enterprises' (PEL) lending book. CRISIL has reaffirmed the highest rating, A1+ to Piramal Capital and Housing Finance (PCHFL) for the commercial paper program worth Rs 10,500 crore. Rupee opens lower at 69.40 per dollar

Today, USD-INR pair is expected to quote in the range of 69.40 and 69.90, says Motilal Oswal. The Indian rupee opened lower at 69.40 per dollar on Wednesday against Tuesday's close of 69.34. On June 25 the domestic currency ended flat at 69.36 against the US dollar as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East dampened forex market sentiment. Most brokerage firms maintained their rating on Bajaj Finance, post-March quarter results, but raised their target prices up to Rs 3,600, which translates into an upside of over 10 percent from the current levels. The stock hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 3,246.85 on Friday, rallying nearly 17 percent so far in 2019 and over 60 percent over the last year. Bajaj Finance on May 16 reported a 50 percent jump in its standalone net profit at Rs 1,114 crore for January-March. It had posted a profit of Rs 743 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
